Want to know more about allowing my students to get results online?

Following a successful pilot in June 2007, Edexcel will continue to offer results online to students, with their school or colleges permission, for the main January and June examination series. See below for an outline of the process.

The process

Edexcel Online users will have access to a results to students opt-in/opt-out screen. Please use this screen to tell Edexcel whether or not you will be participating. All centres who have opted in to allow their students to access their results online will be sent details for their students before the examinations begin.

Each student will be allocated a secure personal identification number (PIN). On the registration website students will be required to enter their centre number, candidate number and PIN as provided as well as their date of birth for extra verification. They will also be asked to provide an email address and their home address and will need to read and indicate that they have understood a set of terms and conditions before they can submit their details.

On registration, an email will be sent to the student confirming that they have been registered. They will be asked to ensure that their email address remains active up until results day. Their username and password will be sent to them a couple of weeks before results day to reduce the risk of large numbers of students forgetting their details.

On results day, students will be able to login at any time after the official JCQ time for sanctioned paper results release.

They will see

  • Their grades for all the Edexcel subjects they have taken
  • UMS point scores and grades for any GCE units they have taken
  • A ‘Gradeometer’ for each grade, indicating how close they were to the grades above and below that that they achieved
  • An option to print out the information displayed
  • Links to examzone containing information about the resitting and remarking process as well as other useful support information
  • Links to external sites offering further guidance (e.g. UCAS) *
  • Links to advice and support sites such as the BBC’s education helpline (set up in partnership with DfES)*
    Messages will also be displayed stating that;
  • School and college staff are available on results day if face to face support or advice is needed
  • Other exam boards results will need to be collected on paper in the traditional way

*Some links available through Results Plus Direct may not be applicable to international students
