Edexcel is currently reviewing the existing O level and IGCSE specifications in consultation with centres and key associates.

The intention is to develop qualifications based upon the best features of the current IGCSE and O level specifications. This will create a new suite of IGCSEs that will update and replace the current qualifications and help keep our learners at the leading edge of global qualification developments.

There will be varying degrees of development for each subject, based upon our observations and the feedback we have received from centres.

The new specifications will be available in centres from September 2008, for first teaching in September 2009.

The current specifications and support material are valid for final examination in 2010 and for some O level subjects in 2011, irrespective of the information given on the front cover. Full details of the validity of specifications are available in the Schedule for Review below.
