  Jerry Jarvis

Jerry Jarvis 
Managing Director, Edexcel Ltd

Jerry Jarvis joined Edexcel in 2000, and has driven a programme of innovation and fundamental change, giving Edexcel a leading position in the modernisation of the examination system.  He believes passionately in the provision of the best support that can be given to learners, and the special role that Awarding Bodies play in the setting and value of standards.

His background is in the quality, IT and service sectors with organisations including Thorn-EMI and BAe Systems.  As Change Director with BAe, he pioneered a radical approach to customer service excellence winning the Management Today Best UK Company Award.

  
  

  Isabel Sutcliffe - Director of Qualifications & Standards

Isabel Sutcliffe
Qualifications and Accreditation Director

Isabel joined Edexcel in October 2006 from her post as Chief Executive of NCFE. A previous DHL Boss of the Year, Isabel is a Director of the Federation of Awarding Bodies, a member of QCA's Board Qualifications and Skills Advisory Group, a member of the Specialist Schools and Academies Vocational Expert Panel, and has served as both a Parent Governor and College Govenor and held posts as a lecturer. She holds a BA (Hons) in Geography from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and an MA (African Studies) from the University of London School of Oriental and African Studies, and was, until 1990, Assistant Secretary at the NREB, now AQA.

  
  Tim Williams

Tim Williams
Human Resources Director

Tim joined Edexcel in 2000. Previously he has held a number of senior Human Resources posts during his 20-year career with Whitbread plc., including Human Resources Director for the Whitbread Beer Company (£1.5bn turnover) and Whitbread Pub Partnerships. Prior to joining Edexcel, Tim was a Human Resources consultant.

  

  Peter Miller

Peter Miller 
President of Pearson Education Solutions UK 

Peter joined Edexcel from Pearson VUE in January 2006 to manage the business relationships with all Edexcel clients worldwide. In this role he is focused on satisfying client needs for academic and vocational qualifications as well as related educational services. Peter has extensive experience of the electronic assessment market and has held senior sales and marketing positions in global IT businesses for over 30 years including ICL, Digital Equipment Corporation and EDS. He has worked extensively in the UK Public Sector and Financial Services markets on an international basis and holds a BSc in Mathematics.

  

 

  Lester Pulsford

Lester Pulsford
IT Director

Lester Pulsford joined Edexcel in March 2005 as IT Director. Previously, he was Senior Director Operations & IT for Total Systems Services Europe and has held various IT management posts, including security management within the NatWest Bank group.

  


  Ziggy Liaquat

Ziggy Liaquat
Operations Director


Ziggy became Operations Director in 2005.  He joined Edexcel in 1995 and over the past 10 years he has held a variety of posts including Key Skills Manager, Head of Commercial & Business Development and Programme Director for National Curriculum Tests.  His current post has responsibility for the delivery of the tests and assessments across the range of qualifications which Edexcel offers, including the Basic and Key Skills testing, Key Stage test programme, GCSEs and AS and A-Levels, and the BTEC suite of qualifications.

  


  Bob Osbourne

Bob Osborne 
Strategic Development Director

Bob joined Edexcel in 2004 working across both Edexcel and Pearson as the Director responsible for Edexcel Learning. He became the Strategic Development Director for Edexcel in Jan 2006. Prior to joining the Pearson Group, Bob was Managing Director of Harcourt Education International – the largest Educational Publisher in the UK (including Heinemann, Ginn and Rigby). Bob also had responsibility for Harcourt’s International Publishing in Africa and the Caribbean as well the Global School Library Publishing business. In 2003/4 he was based in Boston leading a team working across all of Reed Elsevier’s Educational Businesses in the US and Worldwide.

  



Byron Hoo
Finance Director

Byron Hoo is Edexcel's Finance Director, having joined Edexcel in July 2005 as Financial Controller. He is a qualified chartered accountant with experience in practice with PricewaterhouseCoopers and industry with companies including Sainsbury’s Supermarkets and Pfizer UK, where his most recent role was as Head of Financial Planning and Reporting.

  


  

Trevor Luker
Director - UK Education Sales

Trevor Luker became Edexcel’s UK Education Business Development Director in February 2008 having joined the business in September 2004 as Head of UK Education, becoming Deputy Commercial Director in April 2006.  Trevor has also managed Edexcel International’s business during his tenure.

In his current post he has the responsibility for managing all Edexcel’s regional business development activity and Edexcel’s regional offices across the UK.  He is also responsible for the management of the professional training and development programmes delivering 2000 annual training events for teachers and lecturers.  Additionally he is Chair of Awards UK, a joint venture company between Edexcel and SQA since 2006.  Trevor has worked in the UK and overseas and Trevor holds a Masters in Business Management.

  


  

Rod Smith
Director-Marketing & Product Development

Rod joined Edexcel in February 2008, having previously been Managing Director of the Longman UK School Publishing businesses. In his 20 or so years in educational publishing he has held senior roles in Marketing, Business Development, Innovation, Strategy and Product Development.

The one unifying element has been an approach to building market share through a focus on the customer and the development of “propositions” that help teachers make a difference to their teaching and to the lives of their students.

  


  

Stevie Pattison-Dick
Head of Corporate Communications

Stevie Pattison-Dick is Head of Edexcel’s Corporate Communications function, which includes Media and Public Affairs and Internal Communications.  She joined Edexcel in 1999 as the Media Affairs Manager before which she was a media affairs and crisis management consultant across a wide range of non-government offices, local government bodies and charities.
