Representatives from the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate (MES) visited Edexcel headquarters in London recently. The main purpose of their visit was to attend Moderation Meetings for the Mauritius ‘Certificate of Primary Education’ (CPE) examinations which are organised by the MES.  The visit has been organised by Edexcel on an annual basis for many years in order to moderate papers for English, Mathematics, French, Science, History and Geography. Subject experts in these areas from Mauritius met subject experts from Edexcel in order to finalise the papers. In addition, CPE examination papers in minority Asian languages used on the island including Urdu, Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Arabic, Telugu and Chinese were moderated by post.

During their visit the leaders of the visit, Professor L Finette, Director of the MES and Ramesh Manrakhan, Adviser to the MES, were given a tour of the Edexcel processing centre at Blundell Street and a full explanation of how Edexcel’s  e-pen marking system works. ‘They were both very impressed with the system and the way in which it has revolutionised the marking of scripts in the United Kingdom,’ said David Davies, Edexcel’s Global Relationship Manager, who organised the visit.
